Odysseus is a self-hosted, open-source AI workspace — the team calls it the self-hosted version of the ChatGPT/Claude UI experience, running on your own hardware. Odysseus exploded to roughly 65,000 stars within days of launch — one of the fastest-rising AI repos of 2026. It matters because it answers the exact fear behind enterprise AI bans: what if you never have to hand your data to a cloud vendor at all? Where Samsung lifted its ChatGPT ban by wrapping cloud models in DLP and contracts, Odysseus offers the other path — keep everything local. But be honest about where it is: this is a brand-new, hype-driven project. The default dev branch is explicitly flagged as may be unstable (use main), and the repo carries hundreds of open issues.
